The Game Is On!

It is with great sadness, and yet some bit of anticipation, that I discovered today I will not be covering Game of Thrones for the site for which I provide the most television review coverage. I was greatly saddened because I truly love the books and the series, and have put aside a year of my life when I could have reading the books to ensure better coverage of the show toward the nature of the analysis warranted on the site.

However, that is not to be. The good news is, I have rushed headfirst back into book 3, A Storm of Swords, which I had put down after realizing the difficulty of covering the show after having read the books. But fear not! I haven't created this site for nothing.

There is obviously a passion I have deeply ingrained inside of me that wishes to be heard. The joy of writing about incredible series, both books and television, such as Game of Thrones is one of the reasons for my devotion to entertainment.

I"m going to cover the books and the show on the Modwild pages. I have a this and Keep an eye on Google+, Twitter and (gods forbid) Facebook, for the latest postings. I have to draw the line at Pinterest. A bulletin board teen I am not.

Let's think of me as the Morgan Freeman of the behind the scenes of the entertainment business. I'm going to do something. It may be one lousy, cheesy B (C, D, E or F) movie or it may be something more. But I'm not giving up. I'm going to continue to learn, make contacts and grow. This is a weird and fickle business. Every day brings to light something I could never have dreamed (and yet, probably did dream). Oh - I've also read that you are never, EVER to use parentheses for any reason whatsoever...maybe I'm the new, screw it.

What do I have to lose? I have a full time job where they support my outside interests (parens...if you are ever in Denver and want to do an interview, it would tickle the patoots out of my bosses) and a hell of a lot of free time.

That said, look for my reviews of Game of Thrones Season Two, plus a Storm of Swords. Additionally, I'll be attending the ATX Festival in June in AUSTIN, TEXAS to make some contacts. I want to know you, and dammit, I think I'm a pretty cool person to know, too. :-)

This blank post was brought to you by my cats

While I took a nap. Yes. You read that right. Apparently, they WANT to say something about TV, but can't quite grasp the words. I was going to delete it, but if they went to all this trouble, how could I do that??

DO YOU REMEMBER THIS BLANK POST BROUGHT TO YOU BY MY CATS??? Now I know why. Because it was GEORGIA'S BIRTHDAY! That's right. I forgot my most special girl's birthday. Some shitty mother I am, right? Why I remembered this two weeks post birthday is beyond me, but now I know why she was stomping around on my computer. She's was desperately trying to send me a message. And I missed. it.

The River is NOT a Found Footage Show!

You can check out my reviews on - I loved the show. I've been waiting for it to air for almost a year. Watching the Twitter stream last night, it was going over quite well. To read the comments on my posts, and those of other reviewers this morning, it was practically hated.

Many comments are that it's a "found footage" series. No, it's not. Is there some found footage included within the series? Yes. But is it a surprise that this footage was found? Hardly. The man was on a television show. Of course there is footage left behind that never aired. It's not like the Paranormal Activity  movies that are strictly based off of home movies of people doing investigations into their own lives. Nothing of the sort.

The camera work was shaky. Yep. It was. Did you know that the actor playing AJ is actually filming? He is. And they are using some of that footage. Because it adds to the reality of the situation playing on the screen. He's right there, in the thick of things. Yes, he may be running. You try running for your life through a thick jungle with a camera on your shoulder and see if you can maintain a steady hand. Feel free to send me your footage and I'll happily post it for you.

"I was waiting for the Smoke Monster to come out," "I was hoping for another Lost." Why? Who ever said this was going to be anything even remotely similar to, let alone a replacement for Lost? Get over it already. Move on LOST IS OVER. And, the ending was crap. Twist and turn it any which way you want but the answers we got during the last two seasons did not tie into the show we signed up for and you will never get a replay on Lost.

This, my friends, is THE RIVER. Watch it for what it is. Fun, schticky entertainment. Not mind bending and puzzle cracking like Fringe, not about a house of ghosts in a limited setting like American Horror Story, and not some mythical never ending search for meaning like Lost. Enjoy it for what it is, stop searching for other shows in this new one and you just might have a little fun in the process.
